Why Is Laser Periodontal Therapy Better?

  • LASER PERIODONTAL THERAPY™ is incredibly non-invasive—no cutting and no suturing. This means that there is less discomfort with LASER PERIODONTAL THERAPY™ than with standard surgery, both during and after the procedure.
  • LASER PERIODONTAL THERAPY™ takes less time than traditional surgery. All it takes is two 2-hour visits and a few follow-up visits. In contrast, traditional surgery requires eight to ten sessions of about 1 hour each, with multiple additional visits required to remove stitches and perform additional checkups.
  • After LASER PERIODONTAL THERAPY™, Dr. Giller will probably recommend a soft diet for one to two weeks after the procedure. Soft food is advised to promote fast healing, but the pain associated with "cut and stitch" surgery is simply not an issue.
  • The nonsurgical laser procedure has a less than 24-hour recovery period, so you won't have to schedule additional time off work. LASER PERIODONTAL THERAPY™ is also safe for patients with health concerns such as diabetes or hemophilia, or those taking medications such as Coumadin or Cyclosporin, which can make traditional surgery inadvisable
